AUGUST 2007 ARCHIVE

This is my new owl necklace, purchased at the antique mall and
that's me wearing it and taking a picture of it in the car. I LOVE
IT!
I am filling out "We Moved!" postcards tonight but
I'm tempted to go throw them all in the trash. I think I've filled
out about 15/20 of them. For one thing, we moved 3 months ago, so,
it seems a little untimely.
Part of the reason it took me so long to buy them was cause I was
going to make them myself.... I quickly realized that all "we're
moving" metaphors have all been used up and there's nothing
clever or funny to be done in the time I have to do it. Then, I
was looking around town for "New Address" cards and they
are all pretty sad --either ugly or with a phrase like, "We're
living out of cardboard boxes."
I finally found some that are plain and the colors aren't awful
and I bought those. The only problem is that they have 'new phone'
on there too under 'new address' and well, it seems odd to have
your phone number floating out there in the free postal service
world. And, most of the people I'm sending these cards to are people
that I don't talk to that often, like distant aunts and such. Why
do they need my phone number all of sudden when they didn't have
it yesterday?
And then I think, couldn't I be emailing some of these people instead
of writing them? And then I think I'm stuck in 1994 and I'm the
only person that still mails anything. ugh.
I'm embarassed!

This
bed is elegant and beautiful. It's the most perfect bed I have
seen. And, well, most of the beds I've been looking are all sorta
boring and similar. I'm not usually into dark furniture, but look
at this bed!! It's awesome!! It's undeniable.

This
is my vintage snakey belt buckle.

This Owl? Yes. I can totally see why you're in love with this owl.

I can't for the life of me remember how I stumbled upon the Zingerman's,
but as soon as I did, I ordered their catalog. It came in the mail
yesterday and I LOVE IT! It's the neatest, most interesting, readable
catalog ever and I have no doubt that Adam and I will be ordering
specialty bacons (pictured above) and sauces and spices in no time.
Mmm... olive
oil gift box....
[i'm suddenly having de ja vu about blogging about
this before... egads.]

I am almost done reading THE
GOLDEN COMPASS, which will be released in theaters this christmas.
It's a good book (the first of a series of 3) - along the lines
of Harry Potter with the main character innocently trying to figure
her way through a newly discovered world of magical curiousities.
Unfortunately, I must also tell you that Nicole Kidman is playing
one of the main characters. Is it possible in this lifetime to get
away from Nicole Kidman? Please.
