ARCHIVES: NOVEMBER 2009

Friday November 27

Isn't this tape dispenser cute?!?! I thrifted it. Adam broke it a couple of months ago, so it's not around anymore. But I had always meant to share it.

So long, snail tape!

On the top of every cup of coffee my husband makes, goes a frothy sweet soy milk foam (created separately) and a dusting of cinnamon. I admire his fortitude at keeping up this slightly elaborate drink-making technique.

I don't drink coffee as a rule but lately, I enjoy a little evening drink which is 80% soy milk and 20% coffee.

Well .... That was all fine and dandy, until Adam told me about 'salted coffee' which he had read about online. Now, I'm completely hooked. It's the new HOT drink in Taiwan - or was in January of this year.

Basically, you add a little salt to the frothy milk foam. When you sip your drink, you get the regular coffee base, with a note of salty/sweet in the foamy part. It's quite delicious!

Buy yourself one of those hand-held frothers and get to it.

We took in a little of the East Austin Studio Tour on Saturday. We came away with a blurry picture of the most gorgeous display of vegetables -- just squint....:

These beauties were grown by the good folks responsible for the Utility Research Garden which houses a bamboo laden garden, located symbiotically with Decoder Ring poster people.

What did we buy? Well! We bought that bunch of carrots in the front, a bundle of lettuce that I have never seen, arugula, a bunch of spicy mustard greens and an orange. All have been enjoyed on some salads ..... lacking fresh shaved parmesan and proscuitto.

Did we SEE any art? Yes, of course. We stopped by the Okay Mountain studios and I was bewitched to see a piece of artwork that I had grabbed for my laptop wallpaper about a week ago.

Katy Horan is the artist who shares a studio space with 10 some other artists. It was a real treat to see her wall of half-finished pieces, her padded tiny brushes (taped with paper for added comfort) and all of her work. She will be having a solo show at DOMY in March.

This is the card that I gave Adam for our 14th Anniversary, which was on October 26th for the record. I love it! I went right to their website, Hello Lucky and started drooling over the rest of their cards. The website itself is equally cute.

I got stuck on these prints - all and any of them. Our bathroom is in need of something on the walls and I am contemplating 2 of these. Haven't decided... but.. heavily contemplating.

I have wanted a special key chain for many years. Here and there I have bought them and they all broke after a short period of time. One of my favorites was a small silver monkey with moveable arms - who only lasted a couple of months.

And I can't remember which came first... me looking at leather goods on Etsy or deciding I wanted a leather keychain with my initial on it. I narrowed an exhausting Etsy search down to a few folks and selected ShootFromCanada for the job. Her work has just enough old western charm flair without being too honky tonk.

Using the Alchemy feature in Etsy, I hired her for the task. She did a great job and I couldn't be happier with my keychain that's sure to last longer than I.

Tuesday November 10

Whenever I look at the Anthropologie site, I always try to stop over at Free People - they are a little bit similar and FP always does some fresh design work on their site.

I happened upon these items - which are pleasing to the eye;
1. Belt
2. Fuschia Necklace -not that hip on the pink, but great shape and texture
3. Shoulder warmer - neat

Tuesday NOVEMBER 3

Check out my twin-baby egg yolk! 10 years good luck! Wooo!!
